Sentence-final explanatory -거든(요). This ending in is a one-shape ending, and can occur with any base. L-extending bases appear in their extended form before this ending: 사-ㄹ- live → 살거든요. Used to offer a kind of follow-up explanation to what has just been said (or implied)—sometimes insistently and/or as a corrective to a perceived lack of information or understanding on the part of one's interlocutor. Also functions as a sort of politeness strategy to keep conversations moving by inviting a response (it usually has a rising, question-like intonation). A useful translation strategy is " ..., you see?"
